2. We finish our lunch.
3. After kir pays for the meal, king and my mom rise from the table....
Memuatkan…Memuatkan…
1. ...looking slightly tipsy and eager to set off on their exploration.
2. Kir and I walk side by side in silence all the way back to the hotel.
3. But there are so many new sights, sounds and smells to take in, that I hardly notice the stiff uncomfortable silence that's settled between us.
Memuatkan…Memuatkan…
1. When we reach the hotel, kir opens the door...
2. ...and ushers me through..
3. ...her warm palm once again settling against my spine and leaving a rush of tingles in its wake.
4. A young man dressed in a hotel uniform stops us in the lobby.
1. "A new key for you, miss."
2. "I have a key."
3. "Yes, but for your new suite. Floor seventeen."
4. He folds the key card in my hand while simultaneously removing the old one.
5. I recall kir stopping to talk in hushed voices with the concierge before we left the hotel. Is this her doing?
6. "No."
7. "I just wanted you to be comfortable."
1. "I am comfortable."
2. I bite my tongue to avoid pointing out that I'd been more comfortable before she appeared and started interfering..
3. ...but deep down inside, I know she's just trying to be nice, as annoying as it might be.
4. She can't win me back with thoughtful gestures and sweet remarks.
5. Call me crazy, but I have a rule about dating woman who are married: I don't.
6. "I want my old room back thank you."
1. I bite out and turn for the elevator...
2. ...punching the button repeatedly with my thumb.
3. "At least let me get a room for your mom, so she can have some privacy."
4. "I'll make sure her room is next to yours."
5. She's right, mom needs some space.
6. It's stressful to be with her daughter who keeps her in check like a little girl.
1. I nod
2. After alerting the receptionist of the change..
3. ..I notice kir waiting the elevator beside me and I give her a pointed stare.
4. "I guess you can wait in the lobby for my mom and your brother's sightseeing date to end."
5. "You promised me we could talk."
6. She says, her tone making clear her displeasure.
7. Yes, but that was before the wine and the possessive stares she treated me to all during lunch.
8. I don't trust myself alone in a room with her right now.
1. "I don't think being alone in a hotel room with a married woman is proper."
2. She releases a low growl of frustration..
3. ...just as the elevator doors open and drags me inside.
4. Warning bells are going off inside my head.
5. I'm about to be alone with a woman who still holds power over my heart despite her unavailable relationship status.
