3. One day, seri was reading "The tale of shim chong," when she realized that there was something going on between madame jang and chong.
4. ""To mureung spring cometh and in dohwa-dong flowers bloom with I in mureung and thee in dohwa-dong.""
5. ""I wanteth thee as my stepdaughter to enjoy my latter years. What sayeth thee?""
6. What does she mean by "Enjoy my latter years"?
7. Why did she offer to pay three-hundred sacks of rice for chong?
8. When chong refused, she commissioned chong's portrait and cherished it dearly...
9. Then after chong left, she erected a monument in her memory. Why...??
10. There can be only one answer... Love!
11. And I must let the world know how they loved each other!
12. Fortunately, my editor and biwan got on board too and so "Her tale of shim chong" began.
13. "How about an adaptation of a classic for your next series?"
14. "East asian style? Sounds great!"
15. The character designs were decided fairly easily.
Memuatkan…Memuatkan…
1. Chong was like a feral cat at the beginning of the story...
2. But gradually morphed into a puppy after meeting madame.
3. "Careful, my dog bites~"
5. Typical pure & innocent-looking beauty. Fair skin reveals sheltered life. Light hair color contrast chong's dark hair. Eyes have a somewhat mineral quality.
7. Her hairstyle took the longest to decide. But eventually we settled on one that blended the most with the time period. The rejected designs are still cool though!
Memuatkan…Memuatkan…
1. "And even risked his life to save a man from drowning."
2. "The chancellor's son worked hard to look after the village in his father's stead."
3. "He held a lavish ritual sparing no expense to save the village,"
4. "Collect half the price for the maiden sacrifice. I shall pay the other half."
5. "And did his best to help out us merchants."
6. "What a pity that such respectable men died before their time..."
7. "..."
8. Yup, truth really is in the eye of the beholder.
9. The fact is, many widely revered "Great men" were often harmful or dangerous only to women.
10. Such as an intellectual whose progressive ideas were ahead of his time, except for his view on female writers...
11. ""Women belong in the home and should not dally with poetry.""
12. A leader of his people who slept with many young girls including his own great-granddaughter...
13. An abolitionist who tried to groom orphan girls into his ideal woman and future wife...
14. A fighter for the independence movement who sacrificed his life for his cause but also insulted and beat prostitutes...
15. The more women were discriminated in a society, the more likely that it was "Great men" who were harmful to women.
16. And that is why the male characters of "Her tale of shim chong" were threatening to the main characters.
17. The part where sunim forces chong to bow multiple times and cuts up her clothes was also taken out of historical anecdotes~
1. Initially there were several different plans for the direction of "Her tale of shim chong."
2. Idea 1: shim chong, the girl hero
3. At the dragon palace, chong reunites with her mother, who was reborn in the heavenly realm and descends to see her daughter (Same as the original so far).
4. And then teaches chong heavenly martial arts...
6. Her true power awakened, chong defeats the monster of indangsoo sea!
7. "Sh, she chopped up that monster..."
8. "...in a flash...!"
9. She landed upon the bloody, slashed remains of the monster.
1. As if she was mounting an enormous lotus...
2. The emperor's next.
3. "Then she becomes emperor and reforms dohwa-dong's horrible child welfare!"
4. "That's gonna take more than 100 episodes."
1. "Fatal attraction with mom's friend..."
2. Rejected due to lack of mass appeal and overly risque nature.
3. And so on and so forth until the story reached its current form. Of course, each version would have been fun in its own way, but we believe the current form is the best means to deliver the theme.
1. "Seri, kill off those sailors, every one of them."
2. "All of them? But they're not even the main villains..."
3. "If they're killed off..."
4. "Aww, I get it. You're worried about chong, right?"
5. "...then I won't have to draw all these extras..."
6. "Ahh... Aaaahh..."
7. In the end, it got much longer and larger in scale, and increasingly became a torture to draw...
8. Though the road was rough, more readers got interested in female narratives,
9. And thanks to everybody who cheered us on, we were able to achieve great results and pull through until the very end.

17. Lastly, we present all the wonderful congratulatory art from fellow artists!
1. Choi namsae. Creator of "Neutral design zone." "Eyelet"
2. *her tale of shim chong congratulations
5. (R-rated but so wonderful that we just had to share it. Here it is minus the naughty bits. With namsae's permission of course.)
6. Seri: namsae was one of the first to congratulate us! Oh, namsae I love you...! I wish madame would wash me too... Pondering whether to live as a beggar for 15 years but get to take a bath with madame or just give up...
7. Biwan: almost fainted when I first saw this. So curious what serious business they're discussing. Their gaze and expression are enough to make my imagination run wild ^//^ thanks for the great art!
8. Taelkam. Creator of "Butterfly fingerprints." "Revenge is ours"
10. Congratulations for concluding "Her tale of shim chong"! -taelkam-
11. Seri: heehee, even my neck feels ticklish! I wish they would lovingly brush each other's hair after the ending~ t.t
12. Biwan: my heart fluttered at seeing their touch and how they turn around to gaze at one another. Their expressions and fingers are so pretty that I couldn't help staring for a very long time. It feels like this one art was enough to fill up what wasn't drawn in the epilogue. Thank you!
13. Madae. Creator of "To my silence." "Blue under the table"
14. Seri: the sky and water flipped upside down looks so unique! It seems like madame is trapped in a wall and chong is reaching out and trying to give her a warm and fuzzy hug. Thank you for the great art!!
15. Biwan: this is a piece of fine art! T.t love the composition of chong descending upon madame in the water. Perhaps it means they are saving each other? Made me feel a lump in my throat.
16. Zusae. Creator of "Cafe ok"
2. "Seri: oh, they're dancing in the night sky~ t.t and in their bare feet. They look so free! Thank you so much, especially when you must have been busy wrapping up your own series! Thank you so much!!"
3. "Biwan: love the dreamy atmosphere. The background like the night sky but also underwater! May they never let go of each other again."
7. "Seri: omigosh~~~~ t.t~~ t.t it's like a movie poster! Madame is in her wedding robe, and thank god it's chong who's pinning her down instead of chancellor jang. Good job collapsing that night, chancellor jang! You got great sense!"
8. "Biwan: if there were an r-rated version of "Her tale of shim chong" this should be the banner. Chong undoing madame's underwear knot with her teeth... You gotta be a genius. Superb composition. Didn't know madame's red wedding robe could be so naughty!!"
9. Seoulso gave us two artworks saying we deserve it because we gave her one each when her series ended. Oh you're too kind...t.t
2. Seri: wow... This one's like a music video. I can almost hear the music! No wonder madame got her eyes on chong since they first met. Her front was open and revealing!
3. Biwan: oh it's a rearranged version of their first encounter! T.t reminds me of the little mermaid. The blue night sky. Madame and chong all wet... What more can I say? Like the little mermaid, I'm rendered speechless.
7. Seri: wow~ t.t they look so happy that I feel happy! Love how both chong's and madame's eyes are so full of life!
8. Biwan: from this day I shall love the color yellow. I can even smell the spring blossoms... T.t thank you so much. While working on the series I rarely got to draw them laugh without worrying since they were suffering a lot. But it feels so happy and rewarding to see them smiling cheerfully.
12. Seri: lol is that a random photocard deal? I'm sure madame will buy a ton! Thank you for helping us with the coloring and for giving us such an elaborate piece of art~ t.t thanks a million~~~ t.t
13. Biwan: oh my god~~~~~ t.t it's like an ultimate gift pack of chong, ranging from chong in the early episodes to chong at indangsoo! And it's so cute how madame's there to collect chong photocards lol~~~ love how you remembered mother
