2. Thank you for reading volume 2 of The Summer You Were There. 3. Yuama here, the author. 4. I want to try drawing Shizuku with those round bookworm glasses... Now's the time! Let's do it! 5. As a contrast, I decided to make chapter 10's illustration light-hearted. 6. Hmm... I want the title illustrations to match the mood of the plot... 7. As a result, the title illustrations got pretty dark for a while. 8. This volume turned out to be on the serious side, with lots of big reveals. 9. They're like, "Hey, it's time for the series now!" 10. To me, title illustrations fulfill a similar role to openings in anime. 11. "I'll fan you." 12. "It's so hot..." 13. Plus, it makes me happy when a manga has title illustrations, so I think I'll keep doing them for this series. 14. I've always liked working on stand-alone illustrations. 16. This kind of uniform actually takes a lot of work to draw, so I'm kind of glad it doesn't appear too often... 17. I like the design, though. 23. This is what their school uniform looks like.

1. One of them became the base for Ruri's uniform, seen in the extra chapter 9.5. 2. There were six other design candidates. 4. Roughly the same, but there are subtle differences. 5. It gradually evolved into the current design. 6. The frilly sleeves and Shizuku's cardigan were last minute additions. 7. This is what they originally looked like. 10. The yukata were fun to design too. Turns out there's a lot of ways to tie the sash... 11. I got really into researching different yukata and hairstyles. 14. "Maybe something like this?" 15. "No ideas... Time for Google and Insta..." 18. For Shizuku and Kaori's everyday clothes, I try to have them wear pieces they'd be likely to buy themselves. 24. And you, for picking up this book! 25.
