A studious high school student named Ren Amamiya is transferred to Shujin Academy in Tokyo. At night, he takes on the guise of Joker, the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, and reforms corrupt adults by stealing their distorted desires in the metaverse. Meanwhile, unusual incidents are occurring in Tokyo, with one after another "mental shutdown" and "psychotic breakdown" cases reported. Some even suspect the Phantom Thieves.
